The chalet is in an amazing location above the village of Gryon. We are a bit off the beaten path (although this is a path to our front door!) and we have stunning views to prove it. The chalet is an old building with a lot of charm and a few modern features. We do share the chalet with our guest so it has quite a family community.

Our family lives in the chalet with our guest so we are normally around to help and recommend places to visit for shopping, meals, hiking or other exploring. We are also avid skiers, hikers and rock climbers so we’re happy to share tips for exploring the areas nearby!

Guest access

There are many communal areas to meet people or just relax on your own. Some rooms have a balcony, while others have stunning mountain or hillside views from the windows.

Within the chalet, you’ll find a large lounge/living room with comfortable seating space and plenty of room to relax with old or new friends. We also have multiple dining areas, giving you the option to eat in large groups or in more intimate settings. Our kitchen boasts multiple stoves, a plethora of cookware and ovens for your use.

Outside the chalet, we have a large terrace with picnic tables, lounge chairs, a pingpong table and a BBQ (available to guests upon request). There is also a fire pit with seating space, surrounded by a grassy lawn and stunning mountain views.

The neighborhood

The chalet is located just up the hill from the main street of Gryon. Gryon is a small little village but very charming with many traditional chalets. During the winter months, we are a 10-minute drive or 20-minute train ride from skiing in Villars. In the summer we’re surrounded by mountain trails that will take you along mountains, up peaks or into the valleys. Depending on the time of year you’ll visit the surrounding area offers skiing, snowboarding, backcountry access, trail/fell running, hiking, rock climbing and mountain summits.

Getting around

It is easy to access Gryon by train, look at the timetables on the SBB site for planning purposes. Once you arrive in Gryon we’re a short walk up from the train station (or a short walk from the centre of Gryon, where you’ll need to park your cars overnight).

The train is also a great way to get from Gryon to Barbalouse, Villars or Bretaye — other popular villages nearby. Also, it is only a short, scenic walk to many nearby necessities (grocery, butcher, post office, bakery).

Other things to note

The chalet operates as a hostel with shared and private rooms. This means you will be sharing the communal areas with other people. We are excited to help you get into the nearby mountains by opening our home to you; however, please do not expect hotel service as we are not a full-service hotel.

We are friendly and helpful people who truly enjoy getting to know the people staying in our home; but we are also raising a family alongside the hostel operations so we are sometimes pressed for time. It is always best to communicate any in-depth questions or requests well in advance so we can be sure to allow the appropriate time to help you enjoy your stay.
